Hey pards

Got a set of 45-60 Lee dies today--they included a #8 shell holder (same holder they use for 45-70 gov).  I have 8 fired Ten-x cases--they don't fit the shell holder--the cases are too wide.  Tried an RCBS holder used for 7.62 X 54 Russ  and it doesn't work.  Any of you know of a holder that will work?

Thanks
Willy

BTW I have this link to Chaparral's Italian site that give smokeless data for their '76s

I use the Lee Dies with the number 8.My cases are 45/70 Starline cut to length.I also use an rcbs 14.An original 45/60 case also fits these shell holders.I have no idea why your brass won't work.Call Ten-X if possible. Jim

Most of my brass is Jamison and the Lee #8 works Great , but I also have some Ten X cases and they are tight I have and old shell holder that works the best I have used that shell holder for 10+ years reloading 45-70 ammo . I noticed  that if you twist the case as you push it in the holder sometimes this will let them in . I hope that doesn't sound like you need to hold your tongue to the left side of your mouth ?????   PS I talked to Jamison about the Availability of there brass and it will be after the first of the year .

Thanks for the replies

I already had a Lee #8 in my press and the Ten-X cases didn't fit.  I tried the lee #8 that was in with the dies and the cases slide in no problem--maybe I did have my tongue out to the left.

I seem to recall that the 45-60 case is not only shorter than the 45-70 but the rim is thinner.  I you are using real 45-60 dies with 45-70 cases this may be the problem why they don't fit too well or at all.  The shell plate on my Dillon AT500 works for both so I assume it was made for 45-70 cases and the 45-60 just slide right in with room to spare.
