I carry a Bisley Vaquero in 5.5" and a birdshead Vaquero in 3.5". Both stainless and both set up with matching Elk stag grips. I have shot better with a short barrel all my life and the birdshead is right handy for me. I like the way it will roll up just a very little amount under the recoil of .45C rounds and then it's very swift to get back on target. As with any part of shooting sports it really boils down to what the shooter likes. I have seen folks who hated the birdshead and who could outshoot me with a plow handle grip. I've likewise seen folks that I could use the birdshead to embarrass. The big Bisley Vaquero is my primary six-gun, but the birdshead is my favorite.    :D Regards; Al

Hey there aryfrosty.  I just picked up my first birdshead grip pistol.  A Berretta 45lc.  I love the feel and plan on running the first rounds through it next week.  I've got a few Rugers as well, but was wondering if anyone knows of any smaller frame single actions out there besides the BearCat.  My son likes the SA pistols but has smaller hands.  I was also thinking about a lower hammer to solve that problem.  Any ideas?
thanks

I have 2 32 H&R Mags (1 plow grip the other birdshead) I love the mix and a friends wife shoots the birdshead and is looking for two of her own to shoot in matchs.  The birdshead fits my hand and hers great.  I also hoot 2 357 plow and love them both.  It is just what fits YOU.

I shoot a pair of Stainless Ruger BHs with 4 5/8" barrels. They are 45s. I have added a set of checkered rosewood gunfighter grips to them, and they are much more pleasant to shoot than the orignal black grips. They are easy enough to handle shooting gunfighter with full cases of black powder.

iceteacharlie:: There is the Cimarron Model P Jr. that is a smaller frame. Also the Cimarron lightning, if you are looking for a birdshead version of the Jr.
