I finally got the time to finish it and have a list of things not to do next time  ;D

Very nice holster rig pard.  I like the plain look of the holster alot.  The coloring is also very pretty.   You did a great job.  It looks every bit as nice as is available from various leather gear companies.

Did you make your own pattern for the harness?

Looks good, pard. Looks like a slight butt-forward cant for access. Nice. The lace adjustment is a good idea, too. It looks comfortable.

Thanks for the complements. The pattern is from Al Stohlman's "how to make holsters" book.

I did position the pistol butt forward some, I may wish I went even further forward because the six gun is a big gun to stuff under your arm.

Thanks, That's kind of what I thought. Looks like I have another book to buy.

Howdy Crossdraw,

Great job!
Nice work on the finish. Looks period correct.
Thanks for sharing this with us. Look forward to seeing your future projects

Good job, Crossdraw.

You make a valid point about these pistols being a bit large for under the arm.

You may find in future that modifying the pattern slightly in order to position the entire pouch slightly farther forward may help this. I've found the shoulder holster is most comfortable when the pouch actually fits in the hollow between the chest and the arm rather than under the armpit.

Crossdraw, I agree with Irish Dave, I have an Alfonso Penada shoulder holster for my Dan Wesson 8" barreled 44 mag, it fits just low enough under my arm pit, and pitched butt forward just enough to be out of the way, and my arm doesn't rub while walking, I can wear this heavy revolver all day in comfort, if you find your rig is a little off, maybe you can make some adjustments to make it fit better, because if it isn't comfortable you won't be wearing it much. Good luck with this I know you can fix it.

Irish Dave helped me modify my lightning holster by having a strap go around the back and front which effectively pulled the holster out of the arm pit area.  Having a hogleg under ones arm pit is not the most comfortable feeling.

Crossdraw,
Nice looking shoulder holster!! I hope to make me pair sometime down the line, i am going to do a double of Irish Dave rig, but i am just not postitive of the guns I am going to put in them, i was hopeing to buy another hawes in 44 to match mine, and cut them both down to 3" models if i can ever pull that off I want to find lowergrip frames birdhead or Bisley, try to compact them up.

Crossdraw that rig of yours is a keeper!
