`When I started here just awhile back I bought a new Tandy adjustable Groover, I havn't grooved 50 feet with it and the blade seems dull already, is there a way to sharpen it?
One more, I want a half round knife but I cannot afford one know, what could I use to make one? I will be great full for the help!

You guys got me ginin, I got up early, I had allready cut out my holsters for my Silver Dollar city Guns, even used Veg tanned cow hide. So I had drawed it out one day laying in beed using mostly my home made stamps. It was 70 degress out i had the shop door open, I was allmost donre with the right side holster, and a cold front came threw, temp dropped 10 degrees and it felt like someone took my calvary sword and ran it in my spine clear down my right foot. that was it for the day >:( >:( >:(
Maybe tomorrow I can get the left done.

Okay, one more thing, 3 weeks ago I mixed up a batch of vinagoon Black dye, AND IT IS AWESOME :) :)
Let me tell you what I used, I used a cup of metal shaving off of a brake drum turning machine and cider vinager. And the bkack is Black :) :) Maybe because I didn't cook it, the vinger smell isn't strong and realy kinda pleasent?
Im sure everyone can get thiis stuff, butt if you want to try some, I would think 3 0r 4 dollar postage would cover it, if you live close and can swing by I have a plenty, and can get 500lbs of it!

Now when the ground get's dry, it's off to the timber for some walnuts to make the brown.

I use saw blades for making knives. I've used power hacksaw blades, but just about any power saw blade should work fine as long as you don't heat it enough to take the temper out of it. Here's a good design for an all-around working knife I made by copying one that the saddlemaker I worked for had. There's a ruler for size reference in the photo. In the pic, the knife looks burnt along the edge but that's just the lighting from the flash.

Disk blades work good too.

I've made and modified a bunch of leather cutting blades, but for real ease of use and saving time I now just use a good quality razorknife and change the blades often. I use 10-11 oz for holsters quite often and it works fine. I don't have time to be fighting the knife and sharpening all the time. Just make sure you get the thicker blades, not the cheap ones, they tend to bend less in the corners. The straight blades work for most applications but if you have a lot of curves the hook blades do a better job. Just be careful, they are very sharp and on inside corners you can run over and ruin the job. Those big head knives scare me, i'm afraid I would lose a finger with one of those things.Since it sounds ike you are doing most of your work in bed I think the razor knives might be a better choice for you also. And way cheaper.
