Of course, they didn't imagine back then ANY time when a shooter might shoot more than one or at most, two cylinders' full at one time - like is common at CAS matches! 


What does this mean?  WE have more fun!    THEY actually had to use their guns to survive.

Do you know what ELSE Colt did to their revolvers to insure that the customer was getting a REAL Colt, and not a "Cheap" Italian  counterfeit?











The engraved cylinders.  The REAL Colts were engraved.  Apparently, there were problems with the Italian companies back "in the day." 


Now it's a booming business - and in some cases, authorized by Colt. 

The Belgians also did a lot of copying, but in at least one instance and from one group of manufacturers - re: the Centaures - there WAS interest in producing the guns legally ... it just didn't happen until 1960 or thereabouts.

Great add, thanks for posting.

But, ya see, there ain't no mention about it bein' ok to burn heathen fad smokeyless powder in 'em.  Pure lead balls are specified.  When they refer to powder they mean the One True Powder, the only powder there was when ol Sam'l Colt built those open tops.
