I had a little single stage lee reloading press the c style.  I was using a lee classic 3 die set and the reformed 348 brass that I had shot through my 45-75 1876.  The cases would barely go through the decapper die(with case lube spray on type) without super strength which on the 3rd case broke the press in half at the top.  I also got a 23 shell holder with the 3 die set but had to use the 348 shell holder a number 8 I believe.  I need a stronger press but would like to stay with a single for now as I am just starting out and only have 40 cases right now.  Was looking at a lee 90588, a lyman orange crusher press, or a hornady lock and load classic. which would be the strongest and longest lasting.  Sorry if wrong place for reloading could not find a reloading forum here

The new RCBS 'Rock Chucker'....strong as Sampson...and the new ones have a higher , more spacious,,,'window',,,,just for bigger and longer cases.....

You can get Walmart to order you one,,,,our Walmart carries reloading supplies,,but,,,most do not,,however,,they can order it for you most likelyu can order from Walmarts online,,,,and pay the same price as I do here,,it comes into your store..even if they do not carry reloading stuff....and,,,you will pay a heap more,,a HEAP more,,from say Midway,,after shipping is included,,,its a heavy press,,,for heavy hard duty.

And,,the Rock Chucker 'can' be staged up to a progressive press I 'think',,were you to ever wish to do it...but I just 'like' making cartridges in a single stage...

I do all my single stage loading on a Lyman Crusher II press (the same as the Orange Crusher except it is grey rather than orange).

I selected this press because it had the largest frame opening available at the time (and it may still have) for the available heavy duty presses.  I load several of the longer BP cartridges and this is why I went that way.  I has served very well for several years now and I would recommend that you consider it.

Details are on the Lyman web site.

I use the RCBS RockChucker Single Stage press.  I use the Lee Dies,  with a Lee factory crimp die for the 45-75 caliber.

No problems!  8)

The effort your having to use to resize fired cases sure has me puzzled????? :-\

Colonel ... Me too!  I resize my 348's and do all my 45-75 reloading using the Lee 3 hole with Lee dies with no hitches or broken parts.  You do know that Lee Precision has a guarantee on their presses - dies and molds.  Might want to call them for a new press

The shell holder to use for 348's is the 45-70 ... number 8

You might want to measure the ID of your resizing die to see if you got one with the wrong dimensions.  Then call Lee Precision and ask for Pat.  He is their techie and discuss what's happening

I was told it was because I used a full length sizing die.  It was getting stuck around the bottom of the coke bottle shape almost 3/4 of the way down.  I was told only to use a neck sizing die instead and a universal de capper.

I think you have a problem die. ???  I would do as John Boy has suggested and contact Lee.  You should be able to full length size you cases.

RCBS is the way to go.  RCBS stands by their reloading equipment 100%.  I have used their equipment for the last 25 years.  I have had a couple of small problems like  losing pieces during moves or like dropping a sizing die onto a concert floor.  You got the de-capping pin broke. All have been replaced with simple phone call.  There has never been a problem with the functioning of their equipment. My hats is off to RCBS.

Don Berry-- I agree!  I use an old RCBS press that I bought in 1960 and have never had any problems.  I use a bunch of different dies  in it  from RBCS to LEE to Lyman and even C&H and it just keeps chuggin' along!  I have done 45-75's, 40-82's 45-70's and 45-90's with no problems at all.  A damn good press made by a damn good company!    ;)

How about a Lee pro 1000?  I normaly use mine for pistol cal. rounds and it works great for that, I don't have any of the extra's like auto bullet feed or powder or case feed, but it sure is quicker than a single stage.  The only problem is that I haven't found a shell plate for 45-70, so the action is probably to short for 45-75.

I do have a Lee O frame single stage press that should work fine, it's what I use for rifle caliber stuff, including 45-70, hope it'll work as well for 45-75.

Last I heard, the Pro 1000 is meant for pistol and .223 ammo.  I prefer to use mine for rounds shorter than .44 mag.

Thanks, bout what I figured, since I shoot way more pistol caliber the single stage will work fine.
