This topic made me think of something I had heard years ago - are the reproduction Henry rifles used by skirmishers in the North-South Skirmish Association matches "stronger" than the regular Henry reproductions?  I was once told that the "military version" of the Henry reproduction was somehow "beefed up" for long service in skirmishing?  I don't know if this meant a thicker brass frame or in some way 'reinforced'.  If this is not the case - could an iron-frame Henry reproduction be "brass-plated" to appear like a brass-frame Henry - but with the added strength of iron/steel?  TIA.

I am pretty sure you can brass plate over steel but you may need a copper substrate first.

I can say that the case hardened steel is really quite pretty but darn tough stuff.  I looked at another one like mine (which was new) that was used hard and while the barrel had nicks, the stock had nicks, the case hardened portion was in great shape.  No nicks or scratches.

I don't know if the Military version of the Henry got a beefed up brass frame, compared to the "regular" brass version.
Since I have both the Military and the steel version, however, I can tell you that the frame of Military one is not steel plated with brass but brass.
Both are tack drivers and fun to shoot. Mine are in .44 Colt caliber.
One other thought: You can place a special order with Uberti via your dealer and they will make your "personalized" Henry like a steel frame completely blued or "in the white", in either .44 Special, .44-40 or .45 Colt.
