Will an Uberti 1851 barrel fit an ASM frame?

Okay, I have a .38 Open Top conversion built by ASM coming. It has a long barrel on it. I like the 5 1/2" better, so I was wondering if the Uberti barrel would fit or just have the current barrel shortened and a new front sight installed?

I'm somewhat dubious that it would fit.  But even if it would, you would need a new ejector as well since they are different style.  It would cost a lot less to cut the ASM barrel.
