I have some of Will's holster patterns and agree with 10W that they are good fitting. You pick the pattern you like and it comes with cutting and tooling patterns for the most common pistol types. They're a good value.

As Ten Wolves and the Marshal have said, Will Ghormley's patterns are really good and are period correct.  IMO the open tops would really look good in a pair of Slim Jim holsters...similar to the Will's 49er pattern.  You can use any pattern for a base design and modify from there to match your liking...I do it all the time  You could also use Will's  "Jessie James" Pattern.  picture attached

I like slim jims!  Them Jessie James slims is nice.  I like the natural finish.

Be sure to allow a little more room for the ejector assembly tho if using the slim jim patterns from Will. I made a set for my 1860s, and ended up using them for my wifes opentops. Definately had to stretch the leather a little to get them in. Be sure to post some pics when your done! DM

Thanks for the replies.  I have never made my own before and wouldn't want to mess it up.  I did Will Ghormley and e-mail and my get something from him.

Thanks

I thought I posted a reply earlier but it has not shown up so if two pop up please forgive.  On the Slim Jim pattern you can reduce the waist, just above the mainseam swell and probly find the relief you need there.  I actually have another idea that I used with Wills Cheyenne pattern that I liked better.  I removed the skirt from the Cheyenne and slightly reworked the throat to create a Slim Jim with lines that I actually like better (personal preferences) and this gives you two patterns from one.  The holsters I made for myself were done in 6/7oz leather with 2/3oz liners and warm water molded for a harder slicker end product.  Since I am a computer dunce I will have to post links as all the directions in the world never work for me to post pictures here.  Notice the main seam lines of the holsters and you will notice that the two pictured together came from the Cheyenne pattern while the holster in the next picture, with cart slides, came from Wills actual Slim Jim pattern.  Please forgive my picture taking skills.  http://hometown.aol.com/slowhandbob/page2.html

Looks like you have it all together Pard, I like the look of your skirtless Cheyenne holster's, This is what is nice about useing Will Ghormely's holster paterns , you can do your own thing and use the patern as basis for any thing you want to do , I've done this myself , and it allways comes out fine . You also have a good looken set up with your guns . ::) :o 8)

Have a nice day Pard  :D
