Well folks, with all of your help in the last week or so, took the freshly loaded shells to the match today.

Will say there was another non-removable grin from my face as I sent the first load down range.  Partially from the smoke, partially the fact I finally got to shoot my '97 I bought in January (got er back this week from getting everything smoothed and polished).

Had a bit of trouble with the loads on a few stages though,  on some of the shotgun targets, you shoot the steel, it falls and pops up a clay pigeon.  Problem seemed to be there was enough smoke from the first shot, I couldn't see the pigeon til it was too late to get it with the second shot.  Now I do have to admit the missed targets were well worth the 5 sec penalty, maybe even a few more seconds just for the choking I could hear from behind me.  :)  Not sure If i was penalized for all of them.  Rekkon if I couldn't see em, the spotters couldn't tell if I missed em either   ;D ;D

Really do appreciate all the help I've received form everyone here.  Most likely gonna miss the next shoot due to having my knee cut up in a couple weeks, but if'n I can get around, looking forward to the next shoot and smokin up the place.

2RM big grins   ;D  seem to be the side affect of shootin' on the Darkside.   As for the clays we all feel your pain there.  I use to be able to get them suckers most of the time.  Think I am down to about 20% of the time since shifting to one true powder.   Sometimes ya git lucky and the clay gets above the smoke and git to at least see it when ya shot at it.

2RM shoot where you think the clay will be, the cloud will obscure the vision of the non-believers, and to the shooter goes the doubted call.  ;D

Not to mention that the SMOKE, BOOM,FLAME, andSTINK might scare that clay into breaking apart.  ;D ;D

You have to learn to shoot the knockdown, shoot into the cloud and yell "Got it".

Well, can't say I do it myself. Well, I will say it, I don't bother, but a lot of shooters use anialators (sp) I mean by that when faced with a popper or a flyer, the second round is made up of #9 shot. More to the ounce and some will use felt wads rather than use plastic cups. That gives you about as wide spread as you are gonna get without changing chokes etc. The theory is regular load trips the trap and the second load blast the moving target. Gamey, yup, legal, yup. Too much trouble, yup.  :)

I might even put some of 'em "X-streem" spreader things from Ballistic Products in there with that #9 shot.  I wonder how much I could get my 10ga to spread.  Think of it. . . . 2-1/4oz of #9 shot goin' downrange. . . It boggles the mind.

Hmm...... guess I never thought about hollar'n I hit it.  See.... still have things to learn  ;)

Mine were loaded with 7 1/2 shot somewhere between 1 1nd 1 1/8 ounces.  Dipped the shot in and added enough to bring it up to the crimp line.  Used felt wads as I read enough folks complain about the plastic wads melting in the barrel figured I would make it as easy as possible on me to begin with.

Load mine up on the MEC 600 Jr., 1oz of #9 shot and Winchester "Red" wads, 2 a #43 bushing dumping in Goex Cartridge in Winchester shells.  Do 'em ALL that way, never confused, always hit my target... eventually!  No problem with "plastic" in the barrels of the twice-by... low heat index, lots of smoke, & plenty of knock-down power.  Waste not; want not!

Learned that pheasant hunting with a group. No matter where the bird flushes always fire into the air and yell "Mine". Always works part of them time, maybe.
