Watch out for Gun Broker
« on: January 24, 2008, 07:23:06 AM »
I recently bid on a gun on Gun Brokers and was out bid in the last minute.  I had no problem with this I started looking for another gun.  Then the same seller list the same gun with the same serial number and pictures for sale again.  I contacted Gun Broker and they said he didn't do anything wrong but they would try to find out what happened to the sale.  They then made him take off the picture of the serial number and continue on.  So if you want to buy a no reserve gun be willing to out bid the owner of the guns because Gun Broker dosen't care. Any body else had this problem?  We need to black ball there site.

Maybe it would be easier to just put that seller on a do not buy from list. ;)

Y’all get a chuckle when I shoot my Buntline? Yeah, I know. Didn’t set the cardboard target afire like I wanted. Darn it.

How ‘bout the smoke, fire ‘n BOOM (always capitalize BOOM) from the short-barreled birdshead I shoot?

Two that come to mind. Both thru Gun Broker. Transactions smooth as a baby’s bottom. Gonna be a clinker in every pile. Just that I ain’t seen it yet.

Actually, that happens all the time.  Someone puts up a new Colt Single Action for bid with "no reserve".  Someone bids $200.00 and for some reason there are no other bids.  No one is gonna sell a new Colt SAA for $200.00 so the seller can bid $1,200.00 right at the close of the bell, "buy" it himself and start over.  Really irritating.  I bid on one gun six or seven times and this happened over and over.  Don't know what the guy expected, but the bids on several were a fair price.  He must have thought the gun was worth a lot more than it really was.  I also hate it when a gun is listed at starting bid $1,200.00 and the buy it now price is $1,200.00.  If the person knows what they want and won't accept less, it shouldn't be on an auction sight.  It should be on something like GunsAmerica or Gunlist.

My bad, GB just told me he had two new guns just alike which isn't uncommon, but I guess USFA made a mistake and put the same serial number on both guns.   ???

It's also possible the seller had two guns that were identical with different serial numbers, but the seller reused the pictures he had already sized and set up for Gunbroker.

Like several ohters I have dealt with Gunbroker on multiple occassions and have never had a problem.  If your that ticked at the seller take a few mintues and send a poor review on him that's the only way to hurt the sellers business in the long run.

If you want to be the last bidder, use hammersnipe or one of the other bidding softwares out there.

I not bothered by being outbid, I just don't want to be outbid by the owner jacking up his price.  No reserve should be no reserve. When the bidding was over I said he got a good buy on the gun and I didn't mind that, but when the owner relisted it with the same serial numbers thats wrong.

Same thing just happened to me about a week ago for a Quigley Sharps model. Long story, but same scenario. I filed a complaint with GB, but it won't change the outcome....
