I'm sure it's been adressed here before, but don't have the time to read all the topics.
I've got an itch to shoot the Holy Black in .357.  Can cartriges be obtained outta the box, or are they hand loads only?  I mention black powder at our local place and they try to sell me a bunch of equipment that I really can't afford right now.  Just wanna put down my money and breathe some smoke.  I'm sure I coulda googled this or sumpthin, but I've got the best info here so far when it comes to guns and related items.
     Thanks in advance.

That's bad business! How long do you think I'd stay in operation if it cost me money every time I pulled a job? If he'd pay me that much to stop robbing him, I'd stop robbing him.

Ya probably inherited every penny ya got!

Thanks Driftwood!
I knew it had to be out there.  I woulda settled for .38s if I had to, but it doesn't look like I'll have to now.

Howdy Leo,

Welcome to the Darkside!!

If and when you decide to load up your own bp ammo, there's a lot of very good stuff been written and put away for yourself.  It's above in Cuts' library called a Child Board named the "Dark Arts".  You will find enough reading there to get you into bp reloading without too much cost or pain.

Shoot 'em factory loads and enjoy the smoke.  Save the brass.  You have entered a whole new world of fun.  Glad you're here.

Several companies load BP or the subs.  Ten-X and Thunder Ridge also sell loaded BP rounds in a variety of calibers.

I believe this WILL be the weekend!  I got a bunch a cans to recycle (soda of course) and guess what's right down the lane from the recycle place?  An indoor range that holds CAS matches  ;D  Turns out they stock the Holy stuff just for that reason.  Should have called them long ago.

Thank you all.

Never mind.  Turns out the guy I ran in to at work was right about them having CAS events but was wrong about them stocking BP.  I'm going to take some time and read through the Dark Arts thread and see what I can get done on my own. as D.D. reccomended.  It'll prolly be more satisfying that way anyhow.

Howdy Leo,

If you already reload, loading black powder isn't a mystery.  If I were just starting out I'd probably try something like APP first.  That way I could use my same old heathen bullets.  The thing about reloading subs is that you don't compress them as much as you do with Holy Black.  There is good data available on the web.

Take it easy, do a few, shoot a few, learn as you go.  There's no need to rush a good thing.  You will get a lot of advise.  Some will be good, others not.  Your trick will be to sort out which is which.

Get a good black powder reloading manual.  Lyman makes a very good one.

If and when you are ready to cast black powder bullets, I can help.

Keep the smokey end downrange.

Alas, so many unenlightened vendors in the world.

There is a great deal of satisfaction in loading your own Leo.  I started with a single stage press clamped to a piece of plywood that was clamped to a foldable work mate table.

Because they're too old and tired to fight, they'll just shoot your butt instead.

Dumb Question? Nope.

This is a dumb question.

Several years ago I was raising ostrich. A salesman was interested but said he had a dumb question. I told him "there is no such thing as a dumb question, Ask away."

He said "OK, Do the little ones eat on their own right away or do they have to nurse for a while".
