So I have a 2 boxes of Buffalo 45-60(reformed 45-70) that I ordered. I ordered jamison brass same time. Brass beat the ammo. The dies beat  both.  So with that in mind we loaded up  the brass and have found a fun shooting rifle. Outside of the front sight being loose. All is well.
Ammo shows up.  Perfect I get to shoot my loads against theirs. Problem is the reworked ammo wont load as easy as fresh loaded brass. It feels like its on a bind just before complete lockup. I havent forced it to complete lock up . Im afraid of what might give in the process.
Has anyone found this with reworked ammo ?

Howdy, Devil Anse.  Check the rim thickness on the Buffalo brass and the Jamison.  Sounds like the Buffalo brass has a thicker rim, and that may be what your feeling on trying to close the bolt.  A little bit of "over cam" is ok, but it should not be hard to close.  Headspace will vary from close to "generous."  ;D

Yup - if they just trimmed the 45/70 brass and left the rims as is, it will be slightly oversized. 45/60 rims are about .057/.058, and 45/70 rims are about .064 - .067.  At least that is the info I found and used when doing my cut down 45/70's.
