Sounds like you have a fun project going on. I didn't know the Colt and Ruger barrels were the same thread size. That's good information. You think it would work with a Super Blackhawk in .44 Mag?

Yes!
But you will want a "New Frontier" barrel (has basically the same front sight arrangement), Many of the custom Ruger smiths offer this option on their conversions, and NO the barrels ain't expensive if you watch the auction sites. There is a new take-off 3rd gen colt 71/2" on SASS wire in 45 for $60.00 right now. More than likely you'll have to set the barrel back a turn and the ejector housing. Then set cylinder gap and re-do the forcing cone.

I have a Super Blackhawk that started life as a 7 1/2" blued 44 mag. Now it has a Stailess 5 1/2" bbl with the markings removed, different sights, SS cylinder, SS Vaquero grip frame, and I reshaped and re checkered the hammer. Makes a heck of a carry gun and in two tone, looks pretty cool with real Buffalo grips.
