I'll be working hard on filling back orders this weekend.  I hope to get thru all of them.  I ordered enough molds that I will have some for inventory in each design.

Yup, watch for the postman.

Hey Dick, Any idea when your cylinder loading stand will be back in stock? Thanx!

Dick Dastardly

Howdy fatelvis,

I'll be calling the manufacturer this Monday coming.  We have a few parts quotes to complete and then prototype testing.  I'll report back next week.  I've got a long cue waiting for loading stands.

Thanks Hoof,

Now, I'm waitin' on Mavs, PRS and J/Ps.  Those molds keep on flyin' off the shelf and the dang Six month wait makes it hard to keep 'em in stock.  I bought some of 'em by the hundred and that seems to help.

I try to keep my web site current, but things change from day to day.

If a pard wants a mold and it is in stock, best order it pronto.

Any chance you'll be makeing a mould for the 45-75 76' repo anytime in the near future?

Howdy Will,

From my perspective I have to ask if there's enough market there for that mold.  If so, then yes.  Do you have a drawing?  What weight would be best?  I'm wondering if the DD-45-70 390 RNFP might not do the job?

Thanks for asking

Hell-Er High Water

DD,

Have you seen the bullet that Springfield Slim is offering from one of your DD-45-390 RNFP moulds that he modified?  This bullet is a 300/305 grain version with one grease groove and a longer base band.  I purchased 100 of these from him for use in my 45-75 and my shooting pardner's 45-60.  First results are very promising and other users report good results also.  This bullet is discussed, with photos, in the Winchester '76 Forum below under the topic 45-60 Blackpowder Loads.

This may be a good starting point as you have already done all the basic design work.

Something to think about anyway.

I'll ask Slim if he has a working drawing.  If so, this might be something that could be cut in a high precision iron or brass twin cavity mold.

Thanks,

I was thinking more in the line of a 350, but I've got a bit of experimenting to do before settling on a load.  What ever I setle on it'll be a big lube design!

Slowpoke Slim

Hey DD,

I have said mold on my shelf. If you want, I can either send you some bullets, or send you the mold to get measurements off of?

This is the Lyman '76 mold, lemmie pull it down and get the number off of it.

Oh, and the 390 gr mold showed up safe and sound, thank you so much!

I'm one more gun away from being happy!

Slowpoke Slim

OK,

It's item #2640192 and mold #457192. Takes a 191 top punch and advertised weight is 350 grains.

Would it help you out if I sent it to you?

Thanks Slim,

Send me a couple of your cast bullets from that mold and I'll send you a couple of my new DD 45-70 Mk-III 500 grain bullets.

Okie Dokie, I'll get them sent out to you next week. They are already sized and lubed. Also, there is no crimp groove. Not a big deal for proper powder, but for those evil smokeless heathens, it may be a problem.

Thanks.

Hey Dick, I didn't see your 390 grainer, or are you refering to the 400 grainer for the 45-70?
Buzzards gotta eat, same as worms

Dick Dastardly

Howdy Will,

They are the same.  Target design weight was 400 grains.  Actual weight as cast from my metal was 395 grains.  I lowered that number to 390 to avoid a false impression.  The bullet drops from my mold slightly large at .460" depending on heat and alloy.  I size to .458" for my 45-70.

Hope this helps.
