got a copy of the dvd and watched it yesterday. while the weapons and costumes seemed to be accurate i was disappointed in the movie. i guess i like my westerns more shoot'm up than talk'm to death. the spencer was great but i don't believe the character in the movie even fired it. the scofields were unusual since the standard sidearm in a western is a colt saa (no other pistols were ever manufactured if movie westerns are to be believed). so far my favorite modern "western" is  still QUIGLEY DOWNUNDER; great balance of intelligent dialogue, action, technology, and scenery. geo.

I have the original 3:10 to Yuma with Glen Ford on VHS. Have'nt seen the new version yet. Unforgiven had a Schofield and a Spencer, which caused a Spencer I'd been looking at to appreciate $300 just before I bought it. Conahger had a S&W Russian. Into the West had several Spencer copies carried by troopers, mine was the only original . The director made a point of using it in two close ups but I"ve not seen it in the movie.

Don't forget CrossFire Trail, as Tom uses a Schofield & a open top Colt and how about the hired killer using a Remington-Keene Bolt acton rifle :). WBR
