Went looking for the book you guys told to get, found it, I noticed it only had 32 pages, I found a book Leatherwork Manual by the same guy,  I think it was 169 pages and it was cheaper than the other, Which should I buy, if I do buy?
Last question for now, how much money am I going to have to spend to get me just enough tools to get me started?
I got just a few more things to sell on ebay and then, no more money, untill it gets warmer and I can get to casting some bullets to sell.
I wonder if I could get that first book threw the library?
I will deeply appreicate the Help!!

Ace, I left a reply on the other post you had, but as far as tools, you CAN go overboard.
A pack of needles, good waxed thread, a good leather awl, a sharp utility knife, a cutting board, and leather can get you started making a plain holster.
For more finishing get a stitch groover and a overstitch wheel. It makes your stitching soooo much better.
You will want to add a beveler and an edger for smoothing the edges, but you can use a piece of deer antler for that.

If you want to decorate, the Basic 7 set is good, and comes with a cheap swivel knife and 6 commonly used stamps.
Eventually you will want to add more stamps, and Ebay is a good spot for that, especially if you visit the seller stores, not the auctions. Many have the stamps listed in the store for 3.00 or so, but when they hit auction they climb significantly.

There are many other things that I have on my bench, and many I have only used once. I would suggest getting only what you use, and as you need something, then look for it, or make it. By the time you have a few projects down, you will have more tools than you know what to do with. Good luck. DM

Dalton gave you some good advice, just start simple and easy, you can always add to your tools as you go along , the big thing is that you just get started, like Dalton said there are small tooling or stamping kits you can get that are not too expensive, once you make your first holster you'll be hooked, and it will only get better after that.

Also should add that if you are looking at stamps, the stamps marked with a Z in front of the numbers, are from sets. According to the guy at my Tandy store, he said that those Z stamps are a little less quality than the regular stamps that sell singularly. Something to think about when purchasing online I guess. Myself, I see very little difference between the two. Maybe a little poorer nickel plating is all. DM

I'm not sure you can ever have too many books...or guns. ;) so buy them both if you can.

Also Dalton gave you some great advice. Just goes to prove there's always something to learn. Not that I'm a great leather craftsman, but I've been doing leather work since I was 14 (over 30 years) and he gave you some ideas I hadn't thought of.

Yep Pitspitr is correct. Buy guns and books. And leather tools when ya can. If you can swing it, buy both books, if not get the holster book first as it has patterns you can try and also tells you how to make your own.
Have you checked at your local library? Some of these books may be there. DM
