Although I only got to page 16 on the topic: show your stuff. I don't know how you do it, how you have the patients to do that tooling, if you make one mistake, its over. Since in cold weather I spend most of my time in bed reading, I have read that most of you hand sew!
I know that some people don't like the bells and whistles, but I do! I like the bling on a holster!
Someone on one of those post  showed a jig that was black all tooled and lots of silver blings!! I loved it! Kinda reminded me of the Holster the Mexican gun fighter in the Tomestone movie with K.R. and V.K., what a great movie!!
Now if I had one of those rigs, I wouldn't where it untill my shooting had improved a lot!

One more thing, does anyone know where online a person can download some video on getting started in leather work. I am going to the local library and see if they would have some books.
Thanks to all you Pards for sharing your AWESOME WORK!

Ace:

I think the best thing for you to do is to get some basics books from Tandy/Leather Factory.  They have one al Stohlman book called " How to make Holsters"...great book to start with. I bought mine over 30 years ago and still look at it every so often.  Also, there are some videos out there from John Bianchi, however I think it is geared more towards the intermediate or advanced leather crafter. Nolan Sackett (Chuck Burrows) also has a video out on making holsters.  He generally comes into this forum on a regular basis.  Some of the others will also put up some info as to books and how to's.

LOL, I think almost all of must have started with Al Stohlman's "How To Make Holsters". I still have mine around somewhere. Outrider has the right idea on where to start. Then start in having fun. You don't need patience, just the desire to play with this stuff and your abilities will grow with each thing you do.

Ace, what size you wear? Some of us might have some extra outgrowns layin around.
You dont have to be a SASS member to buy on the wire, but some of those guys are kinda grumpy. There were some nonmembers for awhile making waves selling stuff commercial and buying/not paying awhile back. Just made everyone kinda wary of "guests".
You could place an wtb ad on there stating your size and desires too, then it will come to you instead of you going to it! Good luck. DM

Nope, but its a good one too. Thats more of a lesson plan in leatherwork, which should help too. The Holster book is a thin rectangular book that is really long. Mine  says How to Make Holsters by Al Stohlman Craftool Number 40. 32 pages is all, but a good 32 pages. Heres a link. http://www.tandyleatherfactory.com/products.asp?number=6055-00
Good luck. DM
