I`m wondering will I have to buy from one of the dealers they list on their sight or is it possible to use a FFL dealer not listed ..the only dealer close to me listed on their site ...I do not want to do business with ..

I'd imagine you'll have better luck posting this in the USFA Forum.  ;)

I wrote them an email this morning ..didn`t know how long it would take to get an answer ...they just call me instead of emailing ..looks like customer service might be top notch .
The answer was ...can buy from them through any FFL. not just the ones listed on their site .
The 1858 will be able to be ordered straight through USFA unless you live in one of those states that don`t allow cap and ball pistols with out an FFL.

My local small town gun shop here is full tilt retail plus 30%........I`d rather do business on line .

Wow, sounds like that gun shop doesnt feel they need to compete in a fair market.  You will still need to have the gun shipped to an FFL from USFA.  Any FFL can buy from USFA at below retail so I would find an FFL that you can deal with and get the gun at below retail price.

I have a custom ordered USFA Lightning.  USFA was very easy to deal with in setting up the dealer and such.

I had a number of unusual features, mainly a longer length of pull and a pistol grip.  Their turn around time was decent, but my dealer had issues with them.  I had very specifically state no checkering on the butt stock.  USFA called me and confirmed this.  I restated no checkering.  They then did it anyways, and added a fancier (Prince of Wales) buttplate.   I didn't really mind that, but they tried to charge the dealer for for the unrequested upgrades.  In other words USFA did not honor the established price.

So, I would make 100% sure that USFA understands what you want, and what the price will be.

Good Idea Deadeye ..I do have a local guy with a FFL that I`ve used on my purchases on Gunbroker that had to be FFL ...He only charges 20 bucks to do a transfer he has no store, it`s a side business for him  just a large shop in the country , he said here ya have to have so many square foot of space to get a FFL lic. and it can`t be at your home, and sometimes he tries to beat the price on what I`ve paid on Gunbroker he hasn`t been able to so far ..I didn`t think about useing him to beat the Price listed at USFA .
It`s bad when a local gun shop has no competition, they can be down right hard to deal with .

Those fellas that have the FFLs but dont have a big retail firearms business are sometimes the best to deal with as they figure they dont have to make a killing on the guns as they get their money from other merchandise or business.  I have one of those guys as my FFL.  Glad you have one too!!

I've bought a USFA gun through Frontier Classic Firearms.  They are on the web so check for pricing.  Gary will send a revolver to your FFL.  Fair man to deal with.
