1860 Conversion kit caliber poll

   I like the holiday emmocicons!   Anyway, continuing on with the recent themes, in a conversion kit for the 1860 Army, which caliber would you prefer?

Interesting.......who voted for the five shot .45 and why?  Curious as this is also running on TFS and there's been no .45 votes there.

Colt used "Army" and "Navy" purely as marketing terms. The first Colts, the Paterson model, used by the Texas Navy were .36 caliber. When the US Navy ordered '51 Colts in .36 caliber they were called the "Navy Model" (by the way, Colt never made a '51 in .44 caliber). When the 1860 came out in .44 it was called the "Army Model", but both services bought and used both revolvers. Given all that, the hysterically-minded nitpickers like me want "Army" to mean a .44 and "Navy" to mean a .36, and the idea of a .36 Army makes us break out in hives. Pass the calomine lotion...

I'm traditionally minded when it come to the 1851 and 1860 model Colt's belt revolvers too, but from a marketing standpoint, I have to see what calibers interest prospective buyers.

You're right, business is business, but Henry Ford sold a million Model T's in any color the buyer wanted, as long as it was black

I like the Ford analogy, kinda like Colt's when they first came out with the SAA, any barrel length and caliber you wanted, as long as it was 7 1/2" and .45!
