How old are these cuffs?

I was wondering if anyone here could tell me how old these cuffs may be? The snaps are mismatched, and here are some pics.

Brass snaps indicate a later manufacture, as early snape were of japanned iron.

The japanned iron ones rusted - but it took awhile to figure out a reliable brass version.

I'd likely date these to the 1920's and after...

Nice work, though - and you can carefully re-lace them with flat rawhide laces available from several sources.

Lace 'snugly' but don't get carried away by pulling, as the old leather may not take well to that, and could tear at the holes.

How would you suggest relacing? Ten holes throw me, but 12 i could do. DM

Lace them exactly like lacing a Jump Boot - Right over Left for the right cuff - Left over Right for the left.

Start horizontally from the bottom holes and work up - finishing with a lace straight across on the top and tucked under a couple of laces on the inside - securing the work.

Go to Tandys and get some oiled rawhide flat laces - a differentiating color will enhance the cuffs - and you're in business.
