I have a new Uberti Cimarron Whitneyville Dragoon that tends to have a floppy loading arm, even with the spring loaded lock and lug on the barrel.

Before I take a file to it and change the engaging angle, I thought I'd ask for some advice from folks who may have had a similar problem.

This is a beautiful gun and quite fun to shoot (except for that dang lever).

Thanks!

Before you grab that file - first try a new, stiffer spring.

That may fix the problem - and easily.

Wellllll......I thought about that actually. I may go ahead and try it now that you suggested it. I'd have to push out a rather small spring, but it probably is worth a try. Any idea where to get a spring the same size but at a higher spring rate?

Many hardware stores have a selection of assorted springs.  Do-it Center does, and Ace Hardware.  If you can't find one, many gunsmiths have collections of springs.

Try dropping a small ball bearing in behind the spring..that should fix the tension issue and keep you from having to hunt up another spring.

Now that's an idea I like! Thanks... :)
