I was reminded the other day that I have forgotten to announce the Fall 2007 Postal Shoot. So....
Registration is now open and runs through the end of the month. Shooting runs throught the end of Nov.

For more Info see the GAF web site http://www.grandarmyofthefrontier.org/ under "Competition."

Rifle targets are shot at 50 Yds, pistol at 15.

Once again I'm waving the registration fee if you register via e-mail and download your targets. Registration is $5 IF I have to mail you the targets.

I've received the first set of targets from participants. Remember you don't have to wait until the Nov. 30 deadline to send your targets in.

This fall's Postal Shoot looks to be the best participation since the very first one! The GAF just keeps getting more and more active and I'm really excited about it.

I gotta get readin' an' studyin' so's I can parpissitate.  Do some trigger finger exercises, an' such.  Sounds fun.  Been in GAF for many moons, but never done a shoot of any kind  (  :( )  - just wearin' my outfit(s) to reg'lar shoots.

Correct me if I'm wrong ... the rifle AND pistol targets are the same modified (?) 1885 targets, but on normal letter-sized paper, right?  Seems like when I downloaded mine I wuz a bit puzzled (an easy way for me to be) that they were the same.  I also seem to recall that if that is so, it'd be more cost effective to download ONE target, then take it to Kinkos or Office Despot  ;) (or wherever is cheapest) and have 'em run off a bunch of copies - if ya plan to shoot multiple weapons.

I'm really hoping to make it to Ft. Hartstuff next year!  I've slept in a lot of Barracks, but it sounds WAY fun to sleep in one made in 1875!  (Do I have that right, Col. Pitspitr, sir?)

You're sure enough right about printing one target and taking it to a kinko's or something (Of course I live so far out in the sticks that it's cheaper to print my own than to drive the 1 1/2 hrs to get to an office Depot)

We'd love to have you stay in the barracks Steel Horse. I'll put you on the list of reservations for the barracks, as it's filling up fast. Be sure to let me know if it looks like you won't be able to make it so I can let someone else have your spot.

Colonel, Sir:

I regret to inform you that I will not be able to fire any longarms at the Postal targets due to my incapaciting back injury.  I will however shot some holes in a cartridge pistol target and send them to you on the next available Pony Express.

Plese let me know the best way to appropriate the Dept of the Missouri guidon for the convention Color Guard detail.

Cavalry Regards,
SFC Mustang Gregg

MG,
I'm sending the flag to Lincoln today with my daughter. I'll have to talk to her to see what she can do as far as the final arrangements. I'll try to get her to take it to Terry or Del at the Fort but with her schedule I don't know if that will be possible. I'll get back to you and let you know when I know more for certain.

Well, rats!

After all that, it looks like the Fall Postal Shoot will be over before I can participate ... but there's always Spring.

'Sides, I may (am planning with new GAF member #500 Jed Cooper) to be able to be at the 08 Muster, so I'll get to try my hand there!

Mustang Gregg - I hope your recovery is speedy!

Col Pitspitr:

Sir, I only had time & ammo to shoot the cartridge pistol category.  Some were respecable & some WERE NOT so!  But I put them in the Phony Express anyway, on Wed night.  Hope they get to you within a week or so.

I got your Dept of Missouri guidon from the Fort.  NICE!  It will grace the meeting hall of the Rivera(?) on the banquet night.  We now have 5 (only 4 now) on the Color Guard.  I will do my best to make the Div of Nebraska look sharp.

Respectfully,
Mustang Gregg

Thank you, Sirs.  And I appreciate the time and effort you give arranging all this and scoring and such.

I'm telling the friends and family that I placed first in my Division..  I AIN'T telling them that it was a Division of one... truly beside the point, that.

Congrats to all!

Will, I wouldn't mention it either!  No need to spoil anything.  You DID place 1st in your division, after all - no doubt about it!  ;)

Been there, done that!  ;D
