Someone, anyone, ask a question. I need something USFA related to think about.

It is really quiet.  Is everyone ok?  Can you hear me?  Hello! Hello?  I think we should have a USFA lodge meeting, you know, like Fred & Barney.  We could have silly little hats and go to lodge meetings and talk about USFA guns and stuff.

Hear you loud and clear.  It is very quite on this forum.  I love USFA single actions.
I check here everyday for info on USFA guns but not a lot going on.

I know USFA sells a lot of revolvers.  I guess the owners are happy with them and have
no breakage/malfunctions/complaints.

Somebody somewhere must have a report of some kind?

I watch this site everyday too.  So do many others, aws evidenced by the amount of hits per topic.

I will try to start something here.......... Love them USFA's, hope they keep making them like they currently do (with pride of manufacturing and appreciation of quality) Been trying? to talk myself out of a prewar, I like the heat blue but it seems that that type of bluing (carbonia) does not hold up very well as evidenced by prewar 1911's and similar guns finished with it. At least one shop who still does this type of bluing dissagree's and claims it holds up well, others say the backstrap looses the bluing fast. What do you guys think? And then there is the "buy a real Colt" that keeps haunting me......... Don't ya'll dare say....buy them both!
So is it a USFA SAA (dome blue) with CCH hammer, or a prewar?  ::)

Can we here from prewar owners who have owned and been using and handling their prewars for a good bit? Whats the backstrap look like? Is the bluing holding up?  ???................USFA water buffalo hat on.....sitting and waiting for the rest of my brothers to show up.

Sitti'n with my hat on.........looking at the barrel of beer in the corner........when are they going to show up????

Hey Kinda Sudden,

I posted those Colt pictures.  There not the best though, I am still figuring out the Photography thing.

Howdy, Doc!
Yep, we've been going through another one of those quiet spells here on the USFA board.  I check in just about every day in the hope that someone has posted something new.

Kinda Sudden,
Lots of us here own both USFA's and Colts.  My experience has been that, generally speaking, USFA's perform better "out of the box" than the Colts.  Another advantage to USFA is that you can special order guns and expect to have them in 2 to 3 months.  I am currently waiting for a nickel plated, 4&3/4, .45 Colt that I ordered over 8 months ago.  Seems a bit long for one of their catalog items.

Special orders have slowed down a bit.  I think USFA is just going through some growing pains, which is not a bad thing.  They do have alot on their plate, and it is good to go through them methodically instead of like a raging bull.  I would rather they be slow and keep quality up.  Customers are funny about complaining of things taking long, but at least they are still customers.  Give them crap quality in a hurry, they won't be complaining because they won't be customers anymore.

It isnt just the USFA board that has been quiet, it is CAS City in general.  If it wasnt for the Birthday announcements......

I am sure USFA chatter will increase as soon as the announce we can order the new Remingtons.

Doc,
Maybe I should have been a little more specific with my last post.  The gun that I have been waiting over eight months for is a Colt, not a USFA.  Nothing special, just nickel plating - eight months and waiting.  I am buying it to match a Colt that I already have.  Last time I ordered a nickel plated gun from USFA I had it in six weeks.

Ok!  At the rate I am going I am finding a tree to hide under.  I always wondered about ordering the SASS special colt, but just have always found something else I wanted more.  Hope you see it soon!

To answer the question about pre-war USFA revolvers. I have a pair of USFA pre-wars, I have shot about 800 rounds through each. Real Black Powder full case loads. The blue is holding up great, case color is not fading, and they function perfectly. Both shoot a bit high, pretty normal for period correct sights. No complaints at all. Doug Turnbul does a great job on the blue and color case for USFA.

That is great to hear. The prewar is what I really wanted, I was just worried about the carbonia blue flaking or peeling off like some have mentioned on other firearms. Sure wish USFA would come up with an incentive on their prewars with options, you know like a limited time special price on prewars with real ivory and fire blued appointments..........hint hint... ;D  Banjoman are you listening??? Hey doesn't hurt to try! Would be a good way to get more of them out there so people could see them. In my area it's like they do not exist. These days, USFA would be the only firearm I would buy/order sight unseen. Hats off to USFA for being a quality oriented company, hope they stay that way. Appalachian Ed, thanks for your reply.

I have never heard of the finish on any USFA made firearm peeling or flaking off.  I think natural wearing of the blued parts with holster use and handling/shooting of the weapon will occur just as it did with the original colts.  That is part of the beauty of these guns.  Regards.  Deadeye.
