Not being one who pays a lot of attention to entertainers, I don't remember the name of the group, or the performer, but one that came to mind was the tall drink of water who sang bass in the group that did the re-enactments of fifties and sixties popular music; he usually wore a black leather jacket, jeans, and a white tee shirt.  How's that for "iggernance"??

Howdy!

Few would know him, but my Grandpa Fred R. Bailey sang bass in the Lafayette (IN) chapter of SPEBSQSA and they were invited to sing on TV one time.  At the end of the song, as is common, the last bass note is very low - often the lowest note in the song.  Well, Papaw hit that low note to end the song and then noticed that the camera was "red eying" HIM - and he was a touch nervous - so he said "all I could think of to do was take it DOWN an octave!"
