Hey, I just spotted a '75 Remington in the movie "Ride the High Country" (which is an outstanding movie, by the way).  It's the real thing, too, not a "Coltington".  In the last gunfight scene, Randolph Scott is using one that he took off a dead bad guy, after returning from the dark side.  It even is the short barreled one, and by golly, it looks like it actually is 5 1/2", just as it was advertised, rather than the 5 3/4" original ones I have seen (which are pretty rare to begin with).  Perhaps they made both lengths, depending upon the mood of the guy running that part of the assembly line...

In one scene of the movie Forbidden Territory: Stanley's Search for Livingstone, Stanley has an 1875.

However the expedition was in 1871.  He should have had a conversion.

Two Remmies I can think of off the top of my head:
Little Big Man: When the main character (forgot that but not the gun) played by Dustin Hoffman is sheltering an Indian squaw from the US Cavalry raid on their village he's holding a 1863 NMA that is actually CAPPED! [I remember Mrs. Pendrake, however]
Open Range: Just before the most realistic shootout the Robert Duvall character and Keven Costner are checking their guns, Duvall says how he likes a gun with some "heft" and shows his (I think 1875 Remington).
"Frontiersman: the only category where you can shoot your wad and play with your balls while tweeking the nipples on a pair of 44s." Canada Bill

Since I have 14+ guns, I've been called the Imelda Marcos of Cap&Ball. Now, that's a COMPLIMENT!

On the Encore Westerns channel the other night was an old movie "One foot in Hell", starring Alan Ladd as a really nasty bad guy (with a really ugly hat...).  He had some kind of conversion of a Remington NMA.  One of the other baddies also had a conversion Remington.  He had it apart cleaning it, and when done, they showed him reloading the gun by putting the shells in the loose cylinder, I presume it was the backing-plate type.

Mrs. Pendrake was a real peach!! ;)
Still one of my favorite westerns.

In the  movie "The Tracker" with Chris Kristoffson the bad guy carries an 1875 Remington. He is deadly fast with it too with his cross draw and fan (note his filed off front sight). Also, Chris Kristoffson carries an 1875 Rem and a Colt.  A great movie in my opinion.

How about the one scene in the move Unforgivin. When the deputy's were loading their guns, before they were to disarm English Bob. The one armed deputy asked the other if he loaded his Remingtons for him. Then he emptied them and reloaded them himself. Then he asked him why he had 2 or 3 guns and only one arm. He said back to him that if he got shot or killed it won't be for the lack of shooting back. Thought that was a good come back. They looked like 75's.

It has been too long since I saw Unforgiven. It was good though, just don't remember the guns other than that Spencer that Morgan Freeman toted.

I always thought it was neat how on certain episodes of Bonanza Hoss and Ben carried 1875 Remingtons.  In a couple, Hoss toted 1858 Remingtons. I don't remember if they were coversions or cap and balls.

Also, in The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, while Clint toted an 1961 Colt Navy conversion, ol Lee Van Cleef toted a sho'nuff cap and ball Remington.  On a couple of close ups you could plainly see the copper percussion caps in place.  I thought that was neat.

Don't know what Little Joe was using. I did notice that he was left handed. Didn't Ben have a nickel plated frontier? I'll have to start looking cloer for those 58's. Seems I see more 75's. Like the nickel plated and silver griped 75 in the movie The Quick and the Dead. When Leonardo was showing the preacher a gun to use in his gun fights. I have that Clint movie. I'll have to drag it out and keep my finger on the pause button.
