Loaded up some AA hulls with 26gr. 3f--grey wad & 7/8oz. shot.  Gonna use them for my G'daughter to shoot.  They worked just fine for Buckerette.  They acutally took down the KD's up in Payson that were set at normal distance.
No recoil at all, smoke enough & enough BOOM.
BTW-  Look out for her in the coming yrs.  She is a natural & loves the BP boom- (not real sure about the smoke in her eyes as yet ::))  Is using my Goucho's & 38's loaded with Snakebites over 16gr 3f.    Got a 92 all slicked up & order'd a diff. stock so I can cut down to fit.
She is all excited & is looking for an alais- clothes- etc.

GEEZE! I thought my 55grs BP-7/8oz light loads were easy on the shoulders. GAMER!! (just kidding!!!)
You're doing it right. I took my daughter out to shoot and gave her 38s and she didn't like the recoil and was  sadly, turned off. We shot  just wasn't into it. I shoulda had her shoot at a younger age like 8 or 10 instead of 18 and with 22s..

Howdy Chris,

Have ya tried 'em lite loads on paper?  Dogma has it that lighter/slower loads will pattern tighter than the stronger loads.  I've found that there seems to be a balance envelope of payload to powder ratio that performs best in any given scattergun.

I'm bettin' yer lite loads pattern quite tight for the gun they are being shot out of.  That and I'm also bettin' that they have a quite short shot string.  End result is that the payload, although light for the gauge, hits the target all at once.  That being the case, there's no reason why, with a good centered hit, they shouldn't take out a properly calibrated KD with authority.

Good on ya for coming up with a load that runs gentle, especially for new/young/small shooters.

Ditto DD's patterning recommendation. No need to get elaborate: a roll of butcher paper, magic marker, staplegun or tape on a cardboard box or IPSC target as a patterning board. Just aim at a spot and note not only the pattern density but the point of impact. I've had shotguns that were walleyed or shot way high. Butcher paper is cheap and you can just pace off to the longest distance you expect to shoot targets (typically 10-15 yards).
