Got the forged frame 1858 Remngtion.

Out for time, wont lock up.

Sending it back.

Another episode of trying to get a 'good' Italian gun.

The Remington is not binding.

The cylinder is out of time. They cylinder does not rotate over the bold and 'lock up' at the termination of its  rotation.

Though the Italians have made progress, purchasing a Uberti, Pietta, Euroarms, etc. sight unseen is still a crap shoot.

My Uberti '75 functioned fine out of the box but needed a barrel reset and a lot of deburring to achieve optimal performance.

i use pittia's 44 c&B 1858 rems one is 15 years old one is less than a year old good guns have some friends that got pettias no problems. i did polish internal action for smoother operation .

I concur on Pietta quality, . . . but maybe I've just been lucky and got good ones, . . a bad one can be had from any manufacturer once in a while, . . . Good shootin', . . . .  :)
Beware the man with one gun, he probably knows how to use it.

Sounds like a busted hand spring.

Nah ... sounds like a short hand.  Regardless, one should expect a new pistol to function properly out of the box.  Maybe not for long given my experiences with Uberti and Pietta pieces but at least they locked up properly in the beginning.

I don't mean to swipe this thead, but it's been dead for a while.

I got me a new Remmie.  It ain't really new.  It's a used Pietta.  But it's new to me and I like it.  It ain't quite like my pair of Uberti's, but it's closse enough for BushWhacker Work.  If I ever need to pull out that third'n, I got it.

Yeee!  Haaw!  I love gettin' a new gun.  Especially when it's a Remmie!

The forged frame Taylor's/Uberti that I handled had perfect timing. You must have gotten a lemon.

I'm expecting mine to arrive any day now.

I hope they make a Navy (.36) model, in addition to the .44

I have had a bunch of these Cap&Ball guns since the 1970's and 1980's....all Uberti's except one(ASM Navy)...for one reason or another I sold them off... only one was crap a 1860 Army(Uberti) now days due to the lack of money I have bought three Pietta's(Cabela's).....60 Army which is great,51 Navy which I like but will have to de-farb... as a matter of fact I will have to de-farb all the Pietta's and a 58 remy(Pietta) I really like all my Pietta's BUT the best revolver I own is a OT 1872 Navy (you guessed it,Uberti)so.....I guess the word here is parody or close to that...the Pietta's case colours are not as good as Uberti's but hey there is a big gap money wise between them. You can get a bad one from any maker these days because production has to be way up with all of them....I find it strange that some people just have a run of bad luck with a certain brand or seller....that is strange and would turn anybody off and maybe make them go into paintball shooting or something else. ???
