Are these OK to use in an 1860 steel frame repligun? (with round ball)

30gr of powder is rather heavy, IMHO, for such a small wheel.

Too bad they don't make a 50gr pellet for the 45 made out of Pyrodex instead of 777, as I'd try it out in my Walker.

D. W.    I've used the pellets in my Pietta 1860 steel frame and .451 round balls with no problems. I put a lubed Oxe Bow wad in between so I didn't have to mess with any grease over the chambers. It's become my favorite load for the Army.   GG

Flint

I've used Pyrodex pellets as well in an Uberti 1860.  With a Wonder Wad over the pellet.  It works fine, but Pyrodex pellets are expensive.

They work fine ... and isn't too heavy, but they ARE expensive!

When I first got my Colt 1st Mod Dragoon, which takes a 50 gr (max) charge, I put in 16-17 gr of 3f and a 30 gr Pyrodex pellet on top of it!  Talk about "buck 'n roar!"  It almost felt like a Magnum - but was perfectly safe.
