info about 38-55

Howdy Mule,

There's a Big Lube™ bullet design for the 38-55 that weighs in at 255 grains.  It's a twin grove bullet with a crimp grove and a RNFP nose.  I shoot this bullet out of my Winchester 94 commemorative rifle and it does fly well.  My brass is made from fire formed 30-30 and I consider it so cheep that it's a throw away item.

Lately I've been using a compressed load of FFFg bp over a 7% base charge of SR4759 and compressing the works with a 1/16" .380 Circle Fly fiber wad.  This is a very consistent load and I'll be using it for White Tail here in Wisconsin this season.

Good luck with a great caliber.  It's one rifle chambering that was designed from the ground up for accuracy.
