The heads of the two screws that hold the firing pin in have been worn away.  These are the two screws that are in the top block of the movable action on the right side.  I have fired about 1500 blanks through the gun this summer and I always have to tighten up these two screws after each battle.  Has this happened to anyone else?  The gun is one of the new Armisport carbines in 44-40.

Loctite 'em and they'll never come loose.  ;)

I tried locktite, it didn't hold.

Major, Did you clean the threads real well and degrease and let the Loctite set up 24hrs? It took me 2 tries but it finally worked. It's been about 400-500 rds. ago and still holding. I used the medium strength one. Are the screw threads damaged from being loose and getting battered? GG

No, I didn't degrease the threads first.  When I get the new screws in I will try it again and this time I will degrease the threads first.  I also think I am going to try using a hand impact driver to set the screws.  I will let you know how it works out.

Degrease screw threads & holes with Q-Tip & rubbing alcohol. Also, use the correct Loctite.

Harve Curry

The blue colored, medium strength Lok-Tite.  Medium blue is removeable with normal hand tools.
If there's an oily residue on the gun or threads Lok-Tite won't adhere.

I would be very careful about using an impact driver on those screws.  Alot of screws that come over on the Italian made guns are pretty darn soft.  You could end up breaking off the screw head completely and then you would have a mess on your hands.

Major,  I think Deadeye is right about the impact driver. Also be careful about getting Loctite in mortise of firing pin slide. Don't reinstall the block , or at least don't rest the hammer on the slide until the Loctite has set up. You could find that the pin is lock up tight in a fired position.  I can sure pull some good ones!  GG
