As my fair wife no longer wishes to sleep upon the ground (or a cot) we have opted to seek lodging at one of the establishments in nearby Iowa Falls - the AmericInn.  We stayed there last year, and it was very nice.  How many of you will make bivouac at the range?  I am not equipped for period camping, but I am always impressed with the authenticity and just all-out "coolness" of the camper's sites.  For those staying in town such as I, who's hosting the party in their room???

Although I will be camping on the hill, I want to stress that I am more than willing to travel when talk of party seeking is involved. . . .

I plan to reside in one of the buildings where I shall also set up my wares. Will be leaving the two old bears who are coming with me out in a tent as they have a tendancy to start growling during the nighttime hours. Almost slept in my truck at TwoGun shoot at Garnett but found earplugs to be easier than moving all bedding gear.  Don't plan to have to make that decision at Muster.

SO, RCJ, where is the "Party on the Hill" going to start and at what hour?

The answer is, I don't think it ever stops. ;D

Well I truely have enjoyed my past over nighters at the range.  This year I am able to get where I need to go more easily.  I'll be sleeping in my own bed.  But will supply party libations if desire although I no longer partake of the spirits.  And sit around and tell lies with the rest of y'all.

Pitspitter,
The AmericInn is on the suth side of Iowa Falls, right on the main drag Oak Street (Hwy 65?).  I got reservations thru their website: http://www.americinn.com/display_property.aspx?id=81 .  Their phone is 641-648-4600.  I think the Super * is right across the street.  I don't have that website but their number is 641-648-4618.  There's what looks like a mom-and-pop motel on the north side of town called the Scenic Inn, 641-648-2553.  Hope this helps.  This info came from the second page of the Muster registration form.  See you there!

If we indeed make it to the Muster, according to Kayleen, we will be lodged in the bunkhouse.

It looks like now I will be able to bring but a little camp equipment,so I will not be able to set up the period camp as I wanted. I will probably not be camping on the hill.
I will be looking for a spare porch that I can set the cot up on. I will have just my personal gear, and will now most likely be eating at the Widow Barlow's place.

My wife has planned a supper party for my daughter's 30th birthday Sunday night at 6:00 pm.,so I will be traveling extra light in order to be able to break camp in the shortest time.  Just clothing, ammo, guns and gear, and the props. And my cot/bedroll.

Kayleen, if you read this, let me know if that would work out.

RCJ,

I have a spare couch in my livingroom if you need a place to stay.  I live a short 20 miles from the Range in Ackley.  This is an open invite to any who need a place to stay.

John,
If you would like the gun shop next to the hill is still available and yes you may eat at the Widow. It has been getting quite cool at night and perhaps you would like to have  some sort  of shelter around you.

To everyone, there is always enough food at the Widow, as I have folks from town that come out there to eat also when I am cooking. Please come and enjoy.

Kayleen,
sent you a pm about the gun shop.
Thanks.
RCJ

Matt,
Thanks for the offer, it is greatly appreciated, but it will be quicker breaking camp and loading the props if I stick around the Prairie Fire range.
