Are there NCOWS long range matches other than the 'buffalo matches' that allow hi walls ?

Marshal Dead Wood,

I'd like to take this opportunity to point out that an excellent source of current info concerning NCOWS long range & buffalo matches, as well as all other NCOWS events, is to become an actual member of NCOWS;)  Our renowned magazine The Shootist  (the very first magazine devoted to western action shooting) is included free with your membership, along with the most recent update of The Tally Book which you can refer to when questions about any of NCOWS rules might come up.  And despite drastic increases by other western shooting groups, our annual dues remain a paltry $35.00.  How can you continue to pass up such a bargain?   ???

I have a mid 18th Century scientific instrument that use "thumb nuts."  It is a Georgian reflecting telescope that uses them to attach the telescope to the stand.  It is ca. 1750 and of a more or less standard pattern.  But, I don't have any documentation of them on buffalo crossed sticks. :(

Dr. Bob.....
After consulting my sources this is what I have been able to come up with....the picture also documents a type of light that was used by the buffalo hunters...hope this helps.... ;) ;)

Night vision crossed sticks. I can see it now! ;D ;D ;D

OCB, If I had your artistic talent , I draw a picture of me rolling on the floor right now with fits of laughter. Good research! I glad you "found" this picture  ;) The only problem with it is, the first thing you know some SASS shooter is going to see it and start wanting to shoot night long range shoots and think they can use night vision goggles. ;D

Pitspitr.....

I almost drew one of the H&R (Wesson?) rifles across the cross sticks and empty 38-55 shells....but I was afraid someone would take the drawing seriously.....and possibly go out a buy one of those fakes to use in long range shooting.

I should have put a wind shield on the candle though......by the way...those are Comanche arrows....you can tell by the way they are fletched and the color of the fletching............... ;D ;D ;)
