Anybody here use Rapine's 45 Colt aluminum bullet mould? Any advantage/disadvantage over the Lyman iron moulds? Just curious, as I was thinking about getting one for a change of pace. They're expensive, and aside from the non rust factor, I was just wondering.

I use one that is hollow base 200 gr. WOW what a great boolit. I also have one that is a .458 150 button boolit mould for 45/70 . And one can cast pretty fast  with them.
Cannot go wrong with a Rapine mould

I have one of there hollow base moulds in 38 that I use for conversions and it does a good job.  However, if I don't have to have a single cavity for hollow base or hollow point I use the six cavity Lee's.  They work good, make good bullets and I can cast 6 times the amount I can with a single cavity.  Rapine is a better mould, but not that much better.  They are worlds better than the single cavity lee's though.

Howdy!

I heard a nasty rumour that Rapine is out of business and now only Magma has any of their stock left - which means that when it's gone ...

Anyone know for sure?

My aluminum moulds are the BigLube 250s made by Lee as sold by Dick Dastardly, but I use other Rapine stuff.

SHB,  I talked to Ray Rapine yesterday about sending me some reloading dies and he didn't mention going out of business. Hope not!  GG

Well, it seems your info is straight from the horse's mouth!  (Not calling Mr. Rapine a horse.  Of Course - of course.  :o :o  ::)  ;D )
