Slight Sight Glitch

When I received my Spencer, the sight elevator slide was missing.  Not a problem; I planned on replacing it with a Smith Enterprise sight anyway.  Well, Buffalo Arms is out of the sights that fit the Spencer dovetail, and Smith Enterprise has dropped cowboy sights from their catalog in favor of military pieces and parts in support of the war effort.  The bottom line appears to be that the factory sight may be the only game in town.  While I reported earlier that the Shiloh Sharps rear sight might be workable, I am not so sure of that anymore given how the sight is constructed.  I need to take a close look at one before I am willing to commit to purchasing one.  So, I placed an order to Taylors for rear sight replacement parts.  If I want a more workable rear sight notch, I guess it is time to get the files out and go to work.
