Not a bad buy.  Wonder what caliber it is?

Will K, I'll bet money it's a 44-40 because even though it's faded and worn because of the re-nickle job, you can still see the 73' on the frame of the left side under the cylinder. This is were it would say; Caliber Winchester 73' on it and if it has this marking it means it's a 44-40 cal. after the Winchester rifle cal. WBR

Your right, I should have noticed that.  The gun is only a few miles from my house.  I have sent a "question" to the seller.

Will K. If your that close to the seller and are really interested, I'd go over to see it in person, if it was allright with the seller. That way you can really tell for yourself if it's a good buy. WBR

Just tought I'd mention that I just picked up the latest issue of "Guns of the Old West" summer 2007 and there's an articile about Merwin, Hulbert revolvers. Which in my opinion there aren't enough of. WBR

Hello gents,

Well I bit the bullet and bought the M-H in the auction.
The bore is rough but shootable but the action locks like a bank vault and it has good suction.
It's been buffed and replated with mixed numbers but it should make a good shooter. The inside of
grips are marked CK 1892.
All-in-all, I'm pleased with the gun, now to load some .44/40's and try her out.
