Indeed, the Arabia displays are fascinating and well worth the trip.

It was interesting to me to see how much the "brogans" I bought in Italy in the 1970s were like those used during this period of US history.

I've often been told "Quit while you're ahead." But I'm not ahead, so I guess I won't quit!

There's a book on the articles found in the 'Arabia' - titled 'Treasure in a Cornfield' - by Greg Hawley, one of the excavators.

There's also a History Channel or Discovery Channel episode devoted to same, and I've seen that available at the Public Library, so it's worth looking for.

There were all sorts of fabrics and buttons available by that time - not to mention plenty of ready-made clothing - and these have been addressed in the 'Historical Society' forum - complete with references - and 'references' are preferred over opinion, since that can lead to the 'woulda if they coulda' approach to authenticity.

A quick reference is the Time-Life series - 'The Old West' - available in pretty much every Public Library, and well worth checking out.

Vaya,
