went to the woods last sunday to test some new loads with my .45 long colt yellowboy.
everything went well with the exception of one thing. i left my test loads at home >:(
that makes two trips forgetting to pack the test rounds to the range >:( just my luck.
its a good thing that i packed my regular loads with me. so i shot about 200 rounds that day and was getting ready to head in.
I decided to manually load 1 cowboy 45 special round with the big lube 150 grain epp bullet.
I hit poa(well my poa not the rifles ;D) with this shell no problems at all. still plenty of smoke.
No recoil to speak of, felt like a 22 rifle going off in my shoulder.

Now i cant wait for the modification to be available.

I don't have a lever rifle in that caliber, but out of my lil front stuffer Thompson Center Seneca it's a tack driver.  The light, almost nonexistent, recoil makes it a great candidate for teaching the young shooter without causing a flinch.

FWIW, out of my 7.5" ROAs with AJs brass and 1.3cc of FFFg I'm getting 950fps over the Ohler 33 graph.  That's rite quick with less recoil than a .38 Special.  Plenty of smoke and it hits to the same point of impact as the big PRS 45-250 bullets over 35 grains of FFFg do.

This brass and bullet make a very happy marriage.

Yep its a tack driver out of my ruger old armies 7 1/2s too, except i use 2f trpple 7.
in oder for me to get the real stuff i gotta drive 2 1/2 hours, so i use the fake stuff.

I hope it is soon that the carrier for the toggle links is ready. those who are "test driving" the prototypes are having good fun with em.

I really love em out of the Spur Special Marlins :)  I made short work of the Texas Star (it hardly moved at all, and only just started to move a little as I went after the last plate.  I was using either 200s or 185s (can't recall just now) and my smokeless heathen load of 4.3 of 700x.  Recoil is LESS than a semi auto .22 , and I dare say with the lack of sight disruption and fast, short lever throw, aimed fire is probably faster than an autoloader.

I load the .45 CS brass with 200 grain hard cast bullets and 2F 777 for my pistols and have also shot it in singles out of my Marlin 94. It is a tack driver for sure. I was still dinging the 50 yard plates without any hold over with the same POI as my full Colt loads.

I am real partial the mild recoil in my coverted '58 Remmies. I can shoot then Duelist without them banging my knuckles to peices.
Upon the return of my 92 and '73 from Nate Kiowa Jones, I intend to send my Marlin to Spur for one of his .45 CS conversions. I doubt that the combo can be beat while still shooting a 200 grain bullet.
