1851 R&D Conversion PICS
« on: July 29, 2007, 07:26:50 PM »
Attached are some pictures of a couple 1851s I am converting to 38 Long Colt with R&D's Gated Conversion Cylinder.  I have the conversions in and they work well but they are not quite done....

I have replaced one handle with Curly Maple and one with Holly, a pure white wood usually used for inlay work (but my local WoodCraft had a board of it I managed to get).

Next steps are to get the frames color hardened and slow rust blue the barrel and cylinder...probably happen this winter when I am not using them as much.  I will also put on the extractors when the finally arrive from River Junction..I guess they are back ordered.

I have a couple pictures of  the Frank James Rig I made for them up in the leather section....

Those look nice Little Al.   I'll see if I can get this machine to post one of mine tomarrow.    Hey I hate to speak I'll of someone but Good luck with River Junction.   I ordered 2 Kirst Kits for my 51's and after waiting for 4 months the owner thanked me for my pactience and told me my parts would be delivered in another month.   I have R and D cylinders now.  I hope they turn out different for you.
