How come nobody told me FC Duelist is almost as quick as FC two hands.

My last attempt at shooting duelist was a disaster, as I was nursing a bad elbow (that never did heal right) and using warthog loads with LONG Colt and Power pistol pushing 250s pretty snappy.

Meanwhile, fast forward maybe 3 years. I'm shooting C45S with 777 and 185 or 200 grainers, and tonight at our organized practice session, I tried it just for the heck of it.

NOTE:, it was lightly raining on and off, NO wind, a very narrow stage bay, and GRAY targets that had been plastered with lead.  My FC two-hand times for two sweeps with the pistols (I didn't bring the long guns) were running 14 or 15 seconds if I waited for the smoke, and 11 or 12 seconds if I pushed through the smoke, (but most often got a miss or two).

Shooting duelist, I immediately shot 16 seconds, and it wasn't but two or three runs though that my sights began to settle down as I relaxed, and I was getting 16 seconds and no misses.

I'm thinkin with favorable smoke conditions and painted steel I might be able to do better.  I know I need to practice it some, but it looks like I'm moving to the one handed bit.  Seems by the time ya wait for the smoke, ya might just as well shoot one handed.

How come nobody ever told me?

Howdy Major.

Honest injun, I was just playing around, and it seemed to work, so now I'm curious to try it.

Gonna have to sign up FC-D this Sunday and give it a whirl.

Last foray with duelist was HR'04, after I got myself a "P", so I went into "play" mode and shot duelist (and got about 422 misses :)

You're right.....................................if you're shootin' at SASS "garage door" targets at 5 yds.  ;D

Yeah, duelist is coolist, especially with BP. That is how I shoot. What is cool is that I can jerk a pistol and start shooting, with the other hand I reach back to the bullet pouch I wear in the back and yank out a sandwich. I can have it half eaten by the 5th shot and then I holster and swap hands with the sandwich and reach for the other pistola and go to work. I am all done with the sandwich by the time I am ready to grab my rifle. Trouble is you just don't know how fattening a six stage match is. :)

Howdy said it best:  "Duelist is cuelist."   er ... coolist  ;)

Since I'm timed with a sundial, the sandwich idea has merit, too.  Wish I'd'a thought of it!  ;D
