Does the regular  Marlin 1894 (not the cowboy), chambered in .357 only come in the 18.5 inch barrel length? If so, it lists the capacity as 9 rounds. Will it hold 10 rounds of .38 special since they are shorter? Also, what is the going price for a new Marlin 1894 cowboy model in .357. I was quoted a price of $649.00 the other day. Thanks.

The 18.5" should be the 1894C. The "C" stands for carbine. The "regular" 1894 used to come in 20". I own two of them. One in .44Mag and one in .45Colt. I was gonna check at Marlin's site, but it is offline fer maintenance now.  :(

According to Kempf Gun Shop, the 1894C "Holds 9 357mag rounds and 10 38sp. rounds." The prices on Kempf's site are close to what you were quoted.

This site has some for less $.

Put "marlin 1894 cowboy" in Google.com and you should find a bunch of sites with prices.

My short one is a '94 CS. Understand the 'S' designates 'Safety', which it used to have. 18 ½" barrel with a barrel ring. I feed it .357 Magnums 'n have the OAL for the cartridges at 1.5". She holds ten.

Heard tell some folks have had ta trim the magazine spring a l'il ta get ten in theirs.

All I did was name it 'n get it started. The posse made it great. A debt I can never repay. Thank you, mi amigos.
