graphite grease

Hey ya'll, has anyone tried graphite grease on movin parts and cylinder arbores(sp) on a cap n ball revolver? I used to use it on movin parts on my 1917 New Service and it seemed to slick the old girl up. Cuzzin',,,,tell ya what iv used for 20 years on flintlocks.....aint real historic,,but ,,,,,reel lube....

The stuff is water resistant, slick as polished snot, and stays put,,wont warm up and drip out or dry up.

A very lite coat is all thats needed. Small tube of ,,well, Garcia, Shakesphear, etc,,any is good im sure...will last you forever.

Iv used the graphite...and have no complaints really,,,,so,,im sure its good.  Im just a big fan of reel lube,,,cause carrying guns out like I do all the time,,they DO see harsher weather conditions than the Sunday shoot gun. And the reel lube is always there when disasembled.

I like a product called 'Pro-Gold' by 'Pro-Shot Products'.

It's pretty much what Glock used when they did their underwater firing tests, because it stays where it's put.

It also cleans up nicely, and for close-tolerance parts - slicks up their surfaces beautifully.

Graphite has been used for generations - but I've always found that it's a fairly 'dirty' lube - and stayed away.

The Reel lubricant sounds like it's got merit, as well.

Graphite alone introduces corrosion problems.....depending on the "grease" it's mixed with, the corrosion issues may be reduced (or not).
