I've got some parts coming from VTI to repair the deficiency on one gun (incorrect notch cut in loading lever, a too short loading lever screw) and now the other gun has thrown a shoe .....

I had just finished a session with 30 grs FFg (200 RNFP/SPG lube) loads (very accurate, in both guns BTW ...) and the OTHER gun wouldn't hold at full cock.
After cleaning, I did some dismantling just short of removing the hammer and blew it clean with air. All appears to be 'normal'. Haven't put it back together yet. But - I did notice that the three digit assembly number on the trigger guard did not match that on the grip frame! They were mismatched on the guns from the factory.

It just won't quit with these guns ..... ;>) It's become a challenge to get them to function correctly, something I'm only used to on Italian C&B guns.

The only real difference between your guns and the C&B guns is the converter :P same guns same problems plus a few

As you noted, the number on the trigger guard is an "assembly" number.  It is NOT the serial number.  Single Action Colts have different numbers on the loading gate than the serial number.  Does not mean they are mismatched.

Really ..... ? Thanks for that gem of information. That would explain why switching the trigger guards resulted in a better fit on both guns,  ;>) and why the grip panels are similarly marked with the same three digit 'assembly no.s'. They do not interchange between the guns.
