Picked up my 1851 Navy......

Ya gotta reeel pleased cowboy here!!
I might have already mentioned that our club had out ta tender the BP pistolas as they were not being used. Well I got me a reeel cheap Pietta 1851 .44 Navy `n  Ned Pepper has got hisownself a nice .31  ASM Remmie.

I dont know who had been usin the Navy, but its in a reel sad state!!
I decided to give it a `once over` before loading and test firing it and Boy am I glad I one of the nipple flash holes is jammed solid with what I do not yet know as I`ve not had a chance to really clean it it but I could not clear it at the range even using an archimedes drill with a 1mm bit!!

The front sight is like something you'd see on a UIT competition pistol!! Its HUGH!!,   However I got it reel cheap `n I`m looking forward to making it look like a proper 1851!!

For Sir Charles, if you let me know when you are next over here with PUK, I will see how it fits in with my shooting calender and see if I can get there. It would be nice to meet you both in the flesh, (so to speak).

I`ve already started cleanin it up, but I will post a piccie as of now, in a day or two, I forgot ta mention that the wedge had been jammed in so hard that I had ta take a hefty brass drift and deliver a few stout blows ta remove it!!    Oh, and the little lip on the end of the spring was also Not present!! It must have been a replacement jobbie that had just been bashed into place!! It really rattles me to see a gun butchered !! But like I said I got it reeeel cheap so `spose I got jest get on `n` make her purty agin!! 

Oh yeah... Ya got ole Ned rattled he`s gonna buy hisownself `nother one of them Rooger ole Armies (reckons he kin shoot better with `em  )....I aint too sure though.... His eyes aint whut they used ta be `n` he dont seem ta have that Panther like crouch `n` flight of foot since he hit the ole SIX `O`!!
