Hello The Camp ;D
The gophers are out up here, so I had to try the beloved carbine out on one.  I missed a couple of easy shots, and finally hit one at 87 yards (laser range finders are great things).  I held at his feet, and hit his head ::)  Our gophers are the Columbian Ground Squirrel- there heads are usually about 1.5 X1.5- needless to say, there was not much left, after a .512 slug penetrates the middle of the target area. ;)

The next time I'll take the camera :D

Where do you live that you have the luxury (nerve) to shoot those blasted, little (poor, unsuspecting) varmits (creatures) with of all things, a(n) Spencer Carbine (assult rifle)?  ;)

The one problem with living this close to Massachusetts (the People's Republic) and DC is that you have to learn to talk like they do.

'Good shootin. I figure, if you're going to send one of them poor critters back to God, you may as well do it right.

Spencer Varminter! I thought I was going to read about calling in coyotes. But shooting gophers at 87 yards, now that's splitting hairs. Good shooting.

Not to cause any envy, but I just ran about 100 head of elk out of our upper pasture...
The next season I hope to reduce that herd by one, with a little help from our beloved weapon of choice ;D
