I keep going back and forth on between a SAA clone or 75 Remmie.  SAAs fit my hands better, but the 75 is just more visually appealing.  Besides the set back of the grip whch makes it hard to thumb the hammer back one handed, the grips are too thick for me.  Anyone had any luck slimming those things down?

If the SAA fits your hand better, that would be the obvious choice as a shooter for you. Style points only count for so much.

If you're interested in a little re-shaping, here's a comparison for you.the grips on the right feel way better than the ones on the left.

The sad thing is, before I got into CAS I actually thought "style points" were real!  That's why I bought the Open Tops and the Henry!  I may buy a used 75 at a local shop and give it a spin.  Figure I can get my money back out of it or at least most of it.  .45 Colt, though. I'm going .44-40.

Uberti's '75 Remington grips are thicker than the originals. You could strip the finish down to bare wood, thin the panels to your liking, and then refinish with Danish oil for a nice understated look that feels better in the hand.

Dusty ol'boy, Are you gonna be at the Ar State Shoot?  I may.  I say may because I am coming to AR on family busines and may be able to fit it in.  If you are (and I am), I'll bring both sets of grips I have.  I have fitted some from Dixie that are like the originals, the hard black plastic with the Remington stamp on them.  They feel to me like the gunfighter grips now.  I also did a sand strip of the red finish on the grips they came with.  I then put on an old looking "antique" finish on them.  It seems to have slimmed them down a little.
Go with what you want bro and learn the weapon, adjust to it.  If you don't, you'll always wonder.

Howdy Outrider.  I am sadly going to miss the AR State shoot.  Got a group from my club going, but I gotta work on Friday and since I will be traveling for the next four days, I will need a break.  Maybe I will just take the plunge and follow all of the above suggestions until I gets it right.  If you are at Dardenelle, look up the Leadslingers.  Fine folks all around.
