I've love to see a photo of this. From the description, I have no intention of even wanting one. To me, when I think of John Wayne, I think of a bright finish pistol with aged ivory grips. To me, this Vaquero just ain't "John Wayne-ish." I got to handle a Colt SAA that Al Frisch had in his collection when I was in LA for a TV shoot in 2005.
As can be seen in the photo, it was pretty well worn, but Al told me that the Duke liked a material that looked like aged ivory for the grips on all his pistols, and he used the one Al had in several of his films. In fact, when I got my pair of Rugers, I got (polymer) aged ivory grips as I just liked the look from holding this pistol. Like most Hollywood actors, Wayne seemed to like the 4 5/8 inch barrels.

it could be so easy ... manufacturers should just have a look at the movies and choose a gun and/or rig ...
the 4 3/4 barrel length, bright finish and some plastic grips resembling aged ivory (wasn´t it some stuff named Corian?) is all that´s necessary for the plain vanilla John Wayne gun ... perhaps put on real ivory for some Grade 1 gun and tasteful(!) scratches&gold all-over, stocked in carved ivory duplicating the guns of J.B.Books for the wealthy investment-collectors ...
but it seems easier to just scratch X-times the John Wayne Signature onto a production-line gun, carelessly add some more scratches where no other Signature would fit and finally add a grand to the price-tag ... and for those who cannot read, a BIG picture on the case may be the way to go ... one so-called Commemorative even had this picture on the gun itself   :(

I agree.  I would love to see someone try and recreate the actual gun he used in many of his movies.  And because it isn't all fancy, see it at a price many of us could afford.  Add a "Duke" style gun rig and you are ready to go.  Maybe even partner up with one of the rifle makers and offer a "Duke" package with a large loop lever 92 Winchester.   I would sure go for that.

I found a picture of one on Lipsey's website.  The interesting thing is... both Lipsey's and Davidson's descriptions on their websites say it is a 4-5/8" barrel.  But the picture shows what appears to be a 5-1/2" barrel.

I would love to know where they get those grips made.

Anyone get their own JW pistol. Just order a 4 5/8ths new model in 38-40 and a set of aged ivory stocks and your there.
