OK, not a Remington or even a copy.  Just a solid frame CW c&b revolver.

Thinking that these brass frame Confederate-made revolvers might be pretty cool for Frontiersman.  Anyone here have any experience with them?  They are Pietta.  Can they hold up under CAS stresses?

I think any of the brass framed pistolas of today will hold up as long as we can shoot them. The metalurgy is much better than the old days, but even the CW guns that have survived shoot as well today as they did then if they are in shootable shape. I just would not use conversion cylinders in them, not real hot loads.

Between me & my Jr.-High Buddies (quite a few years ago)....we'd owned/shot a number of styles of brass-framed pistols (low-budget). This has been my experience:

Open-top, Colt style: .36 Navies fared pretty well, .44's shot loose at around 2k+ rounds
Solid-Frame: .44 Remington held up well and so did the .36 S&B

All but the .44 Colt-type are still in use.

The Spiller & Burr is actually a "kissing cousin" to a Remington;  They are a virtual copy of the Whitney revolver (with a brass frame).

I have a Pietta S&B revolver and it is one of my favorites!

Thanks for the input.  MT Slim and Yankee John: How do the S&B revolvers shoot?  Have you shot CAS with them and have you had any serious mechanical problems?

Ok,I have found a pair of Uberti 61 Navy military models that I can get for a decent price.  Am I making a good choice?  I was kicking around the idea of going wih some brass frame Spiller and Burrs to compliment my Henry.  Forum?  The price is about the same.

I just did!  ;D  Thanks.  Maybe some S&Bs will eventually make it into my collection.
