USFA Cowboy

Has anyone seen one of these?
I was looking at the Rodeo for CAS, but am not real crazy about the matte finish.  The CC/Blu guns are great, but that is pushing the budget.  Seemed like the Cowboy fell somewhere in the middle.  Wondered what the group thought?  I am trying to convince myself that I should spend the extra money and not buy the Rugers I originally planned to get.
Thanks,
BB

Wdbarbe,    The USFA guns are all high quality firearms.   The Rodeo and the Cowboy have the same inner workings as the Premium revolvers do.  The only difference between the less expensive  (note I did not say cheap) and the more expensive SAA models is the finish.   However,  I feel that the finish makes the USFA a complete colt clone.   My way of thinking is that both guns will send lead downrange,  but  what happens before the lead heads down range is just as important to me. The USFA premiums have the looks and the performance I want.   The Cowboy does come with the brown hard rubber grips that I am not sure were ever put on original colts.

As much as I love my SAA USFA revolvers,  you cant go wrong with the Rugers either.  It really all depends on if you want to be as historically correct as you can or look decent slinging lead downrange.

My 2 cents.   Safe shooting.  Deadeye.

Don't let the matte blue finish put you off on the Rodeo. Just check this post out:

I haven't seen a USFA Cowboy in this area yet, but I will tell you that the Rodeo finish with a Case Colored Hammer has a serious all business look to it and the Rodeo functions and shoots great.  But, if you are looking for great aesthetics and a sixgun that shoots great, the USFA Premium will fit the bill.

I also like Rugers.  However, Rugers and USFA sixguns are different.  I always use the comparison of Rugers being like Draft Horses, and USFA sixguns are like Racing Thoroubreds.

Howdy, pard.  Just my 2 cents, here, but I'd go with the USFA any day over the Rugers.  While I was waiting for my pair of Rodeos last year, I had to have somethin' to tide me over and I bought one of the Ruger NVs in 4 5/8" stainless.  Well, I couldn't hit the side of a barn with it (I know, probably me - no argument).  It is now on consignment waitin' for somebody to buy it from me.  The Rodeos I have are shooters (meanin' to say if I can shoot 'em, probably most anybody can!).  And there is no denying the feel and the action of the USFAs over the Rugers.

Again, not meanin' to bash Rugers or pards that cotton to 'em (I've owned several, and carry a SP-101 for my CCW), but when it comes to Single Actions, USFA has caught my fancy and I doubt they will ever let it go.  You won't be sorry with Rodeos, Cowboys, or Premium SAAs, IMHO.

Interesting about the Ruger NVs as I was thinking of buy one for my wife.   Is yours in 45 or 357/38 cal?   How did you like the appearance of the  stainless?   I assume it was the shiny stainless and not a more matte finish.   Deadeye.

Howdy, Deadeye....

Mine is a .45 Colt (Slinger, who don't know no other caliber  ;D).  It is the high gloss stainless.  'Tain't nothing wrong with how it looks, I jest can't shoot it as well as my Rodeos.

Again, just my opinion on the Rugers... lots of pards (if not most pards) will swear by them, and Ruger makes a good product.

It'll just be USFAs in the future for the Slinger...
