How do you replace the front sight on an 1858 Uberti Remington without
damaging the sight.  Do you just lightly tap it out with a punch?   ???

Halfway Creek Charlie

Tap it out with a small Dia Dowell. Tap it out left to right, as I believe they are ever so slightly tapered right to left, at least it feels like they are.  That should do the job asnd not leave punch marks on the sight or base.

Thanks HC Charlie,

It was pretty easy to knock the old sight out, but I had a little playin ta do
ta get in the new one.  Now my Remmy is finished.  It feels a lot better in
the hand with the new American Elk grips than those shiny slippery
Uberti ones.  Hope that this will help me to keep the gun steadier
when I shoot it and with the blued sight it will help to see it when shooting
a white painted target.  Now all I need is some more practice.   ::)
